A suberb debut album by one of the nation's best pipers.
Niall Matheson is an outstanding piper from Newtonmore in the Highlands. As a double goldmedallist he has established himself as one of our foremost pibroch players, as well as being a noted exponent of the lighter music of the ceòl beag tradition. In this album we have a wide-ranging and imaginative selection of airs, marches, strathspeys, reels and jigs, many selfpenned, as well as a performance of the 18th century pibroch The Lament for Mary MacLeod. This is unadulterated Highland pipe music, and an impressive debut from a gifted musician.
