Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association
Kenneth Thomson joined the Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association in 1968 as a member of the bass section. 40 years later he is celebrating his long-term membership of the choir, and another significant milestone as the choir’s conductor for the past 25 years.
Kenneth is a Mòd Gold Medallist and a very talented musician. All the songs on this album have been arranged by him during his successful years at the helm, in which time the choir has won the coveted top prize - the Lovat and Tullibardine Shield - at the National Mòd on 4 occasions. Although he says he has ‘little chance’ of beating the record of one his predecessors - J Norman McConochie - who spent 47 years as conductor of ‘the GG’, Kenneth shows no sign of slowing down, and is one of the most popular figures on the Gaelic music scene. Here’s to the next 25!
